“I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.” - 2 Timothy 1:5

Mothers (and fathers) have a tremendous opportunity and responsibility to raise their children. They are placed by God in a position of influence. They can teach by example, word, encouragement and even discipline. Our children are our primary mission field! Be diligent in bringing them to the foot of the cross and show them by example how to trust and love Jesus as their saviour!

A Tribute to my Grandmothers, Mother and Wife:

Biographies were not written about their loyalty, selfless days and undying love. These

mothers have written their own autobiography in the lives of their children. They often were worn out but continue to pursue their goal of holding their children close to the Lord. They used their skills of organizing, training, leading, counseling, and healing and apply them not inside of office walls but within the confines of the home. Their work was not reviewed by

corporate higher-ups, whose rewards will fade, but rather the Lord of Hosts will see what they have done over the kitchen table, in the living room rocking chair and curled up next to their child in bed. These mothers have served as the strong glue holding their family close to the Lord. Have no doubt that one day God will stand in the court of heaven and will say to them, “well done, good and

faithful servant.” Their reward will be a crown in heaven.

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. - Deut. 6:4-7

We are taught on airplanes that if the oxygen mask drops down, we need to first put on our mask and then assist our children with theirs. The concept is clear, if you are not breathing the oxygen, you will be in no condition to assist your child.

Mothers, you need to first make sure that you have established a strong relationship with Jesus as Lord. If you do not have a relationship with God, you will be in no condition to help your child. Get that right first and then you need to impress it upon your children!
